SAP MM Online Training

SAP MM Online Training

What is SAP MM?

  • SAP MM is called as materials management. It’s a part of SAP ECC system.
  • This modules deals with the different kinds materials (raw material, finished material, semi finished, scrap material, tools etc) of an organization, so for that it has to perform certain task alone (or) along with the other modules (departments) so that there will not be any shortage of material. So basically it gives the assurance to the business that there will not be any shortage of the material in supply chain of the organization.
  • The SAP MM consultant will going to design and configure the sap system according to business requirement (includes different materials, different vendors, different processes, enhancements etc) but the entire cycle of procurement will be performed by the SAP MM end user.
  • This module comes under purchase department, so whenever there is a requirement of material (raw or finished material) or services (for any machine or for structure) mm module will always deal with it. So whenever there is a need of material (or) services, any department (module) can generate the requirement into SAP system but only MM module has the responsibility to procure it.
  • In this module we will maintain the inventory (stock) by its nature of use & nature of procurement, so whenever the business requires certain kind of the material there will not be any confusion.
  • Example: 1st — valuated stock, non valuated stock

2nd — subcontracting stock, RTP packaging stock, pipeline stock, consignment stock etc.

  • With every transaction there is price, movement type and accounting entries are associated and also the transaction data will be saved into a specific data table .So it helps to track the record of materials included in different transactions by this way it’s really easy to obtain data in real time and saves a lot of time of the organization.
  • The benefit of this module is that every department can have the real time status of the inventory present in the storage location because every department uses the material information somehow.
  • In this module we have to maintain master data as well as transactional data also.
  • This module is highly integrated with other modules such as SD, FICO, QM, PP, WM ETC. So in some procurement processes it is required to work with other modules.
  • Examples: STO process, account determination process, MRP, batch determination etc.

Importance of SAP MM

  • A manufacturing company should have smooth production and for it, it must have the enough amount of raw material.
  • If any how there is a shortage of raw material then production will be stopped, due to which there will be shortage of company’s product in the market, due to will sells will go down, so the income of the company will go down, because of which there will not be enough money to operate the company so then there will be cost cutting and ultimately it will be defaulted or shut down.
  • So SAP MM will never let that happen to any company because of its real time approach and tight integration with other modules. it’s main motto to always maintain enough amount of stock (inventory) into the plant’s storage location.

Future of SAP MM Consultant

  • MM consultant has vertical growth opportunities by elevating as team lead, Functional Lead, Project Manager, Program manager etc
  • Can also crosstrain himself into advanced modules like SRM, WM, EWM etc
